Merci Beaucoup! Photo refs are an awesome tool..there are some things you just can't draw/paint from life very easily..things like smoke, children, etc. Photos are also great to study from and make painting from like I do but to be very clear with you, painting from life is the best thing you can do. Believe it or not, our eyes see more nuanced colors than a photo..a photo can flatten space and distort colors--espeically in the shadows. If you really want to understand a subject in and out you really have to draw/paint from life in 3dimensions. You can walk around objects, touch them, feel the contours, and really get a sense of form...I can ramble on n on but I think u get the point no?
